It's crucial to understand that tattoo aftercare can differ based on various factors. Here's a general guideline to get you started:

1. Consultation with Tattoo Artist:

Always begin by consulting with your tattoo artist. They know the intricacies of your specific tattoo and can provide tailored advice.

2. Initial Care:

After getting your tattoo, your artist will likely cover it with bandage or plastic wrap to protect it from bacteria and irritation. Leave this covering on for the time specified by your artist.

3. Cleaning:

After removing the covering, gently wash your tattoo with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water.Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry. Avoid rubbing, as it can irritate the tattoo.

4. Moisturizing:

Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, alcohol-free moisturizer or tattoo-specific aftercare product to keep the tattoo hydrated. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day or as instructed by your tattoo artist.

5. Avoid Irritants:

Avoid swimming, soaking, sauna, gym and excessive workout or exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight for the time specified by your artist - usually two weeks. Wear loose, breathable clothing to prevent friction and irritation.

6. Scabbing and Peeling:

It's normal for your tattoo to scab and peel during the healing process. Do not pick or scratch at the scabs, as this can damage the tattoo and prolong healing.

7. Stay Hydrated and Healthy:

Drink plenty of water and follow a healthy diet to promote healing from within.

8. Follow-Up Care:

Attend any follow-up appointments scheduled by your tattoo artist for touch-ups or additional advice.

Remember, if you have any concerns or notice signs of infection such as excessive redness, swelling, or pus, contact your tattoo artist immediately.
